Our Services
Nancy Sowell offers a range of professional services grounded in Internal Family Systems (IFS) therapy and informed by decades of clinical, behavioral medicine, and teaching experience.
Her work is rooted in the belief that compassionate, Self-led relationships—within ourselves and with others—create the conditions for healing, resilience, and meaningful change.
While Nancy maintains a limited private practice, her primary focus is on teaching, training, consultation, and experiential learning for clinicians, healthcare professionals, and organizations seeking depth, integrity, and evidence-based approaches to care.

Services
Teaching, Training & Healing
IFS Training & Professional Education
For clinicians, healthcare professionals, and educators
Nancy provides comprehensive Internal Family Systems training for mental health clinicians, healthcare professionals, and educators who wish to integrate IFS into their work in thoughtful, ethical, and effective ways. As an IFS Senior Lead Trainer, she brings clarity, depth, and practical application to core IFS concepts, including parts awareness, Self-leadership, unburdening, and the therapeutic relationship.
These trainings are designed to support both foundational learning and advanced practice, with particular attention to trauma, chronic stress, shame, and the intersection of mental and physical health. Participants are invited into a learning environment that balances didactic teaching with experiential practice, reflection, and discussion—allowing IFS to be understood not only intellectually, but embodied and lived.
Trainings may be offered in a variety of formats, including multi-day intensives, continuing education programs, and customized offerings for organizations and institutions.
Consultation & Clinical Supervision
Advanced guidance for IFS practitioners
Nancy offers consultation and supervision to clinicians seeking to deepen their IFS practice and strengthen their capacity to work from Self in complex clinical contexts. These sessions provide space for thoughtful case exploration, ethical reflection, and support with challenging dynamics such as trauma-related protectors, somatic presentations, and chronic health conditions.
Drawing on her extensive experience in medical and multidisciplinary settings, Nancy helps practitioners integrate IFS principles with clarity and compassion—supporting both clinical effectiveness and professional sustainability. Consultation is also an opportunity for clinicians to explore their own parts that arise in the work, fostering greater presence, confidence, and resilience.
Consultation and supervision are available for individuals, small groups, and professional teams, depending on need and availability.
Workshops, Retreats & Presentations
Experiential learning for professionals and organizations
Nancy leads workshops, retreats, and invited presentations that bring IFS principles to life through experiential learning, reflection, and connection. These offerings are designed for professionals, organizations, and communities seeking meaningful engagement with themes such as compassion, embodiment, resilience, and courageous living.
Her presentations draw from psychotherapy, mindfulness, and medical perspectives, bridging theory and lived experience in accessible and deeply human ways. Whether offered as a one-day workshop, multi-day retreat, or keynote presentation, these experiences invite participants to reconnect with their own Self-energy while gaining practical tools they can bring into their professional and personal lives.
Workshops and presentations are offered nationally and internationally, both in-person and online.
Individual Therapy
IFS-informed psychotherapy
While Nancy’s primary focus is on teaching and training, she maintains a limited private practice offering Internal Family Systems–informed psychotherapy. Her clinical work supports individuals navigating the impacts of trauma, chronic stress, unmet needs, and complex health conditions, with careful attention to both emotional and somatic experience.
Therapy with Nancy is grounded in curiosity, compassion, and respect for the protective strategies that have helped clients survive and adapt. Availability is limited and dependent on current teaching and travel commitments.
